What is World Series of Poker? 

WSOP also known as The World Series of Poker, is a tournament series which has been held in Las Vegas since 2004. Divided into 74 or more tournaments, this is a pinnacle event for poker enthusiasts, being the richest and prestigious gaming event. Its origin dates back to 1970s, founded by Benny Binion as ‘Binion’s Horseshoe’, which later slowly developed into current WSOP format after Caesars Entertainment (previously known as Harrah’s) acquired the Binion’s Horseshoe in 2004. 

Expansion of WSOP began from 2005 with World Series of Poker Circuit, a series of smaller tournaments in which players can be qualified for Tournament of Champions. When a player wins each event, s/he will receive a bracelet (World Series of Poker bracelet) and money prize for the individual event. The main championship event is by invitation. 

At fist WSOP 파워볼사이트 events were mostly held in Las Vegas but later on ventured Internationally. In 2007 the championship event with name World Series of Poker Europe was held in London. Other venues followed as WSOP Africa in 2010, France in 2011 and WSOP Asia Pacific in 2013. In 2015 International Circuit brought events in various places ranging from Latin America, Asia and Africa to Canada. 

Participants on the Main Event grew until 2006 with more than 8000 in 2006 alone but after legislation change, the numbers dropped in 2007. In recent years 2017 to 2019 the registration numbers were between 7,000~8,500 entries. 

In 2020 marking the 51th running, WSOP was to be held from May 26 in Rio Hotel & Casino Las Vegas. However caused by Covid19 pandemic, the executive director Ty Stewart announced postponement on April 20. 

In June the organizers announced launching of “World Series of Poker Online” in partnership with 파워볼사이트 GGPoker to make up for the interim. As stated by the official website, it “will be one of largest online gambling tournament series of all time.”
